Apulia

Description

The food and wine of Puglia is one of the great riches of this ancient land. Scents and flavors to be discovered by following routes that link food and wine to the tradition and culture of the area. As in a dance between land and sea, each day will be a pleasant discovery of flavors, aromas and traditions of Apulian cuisine.

First day
Arrival in Bari

Arrive at Bari Palese Airport at 2:50 pm and transfer to 3-star property in the Itria Valley. Dinner to follow.

Second day
Mozzarella & Primitivo Wine

Breakfast and departure for the Bassa Murgia, home of mozzarella and primitive wine. Gioia del Colle is a thriving town in central Apulia. Followed by a visit to a renowned winery in the town with tasting of Primitivo wine from Gioia del Colle and light lunch.

The Murgia is a karstic territory and very generous in terms of quality: here at an altitude of 300 to 450 meters the grape has been meeting its optimal habitat for centuries. This winery has enhanced Primitivo wine and other native grape varieties for wines of international excellence.

In the afternoon, visit an agritourism farm that produces high-quality, healthy and natural cured meats and cheeses in the beautiful and unspoiled Putignano countryside. The farm has been engaged for many years now both in the production and sale of local organic products and in raising awareness of healthy eating while fully respecting the environment.

In the afternoon we will visit a charcuterie factory that produces traditional cured meats in the heart of Valle D'Itria and taste capocollo, a Slow Food Presidium. This area has always been devoted, by tradition and ideal climate, to the production of high quality cured meats because the flavor of the cured meats in the curing phase takes shape thanks to the air, which blows in from the Adriatic or Ionian seas depending on the winds. The characteristics of the soil and strict respect for local traditions ensure the excellent level of the grapes according to the rules of organic farming.
